Homeless encampment and illegal drug lab removed in record time.

CAM Property Services recently completed a major emergency cleanup project in Perris, CA. The operation was conducted on behalf of the Riverside County Metropolitan Water District and in coordination with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The effort involved the removal of a large-scale homeless encampment and an illegal drug lab, which posed significant health and safety risks to the surrounding community.

Initiated on December 4th, the cleanup was deemed urgent due to the dangerous conditions at the encampment. The area was not only a site of homelessness but also contained hazardous materials and evidence of illegal activities. CAM’s team of highly trained environmental specialists mobilized swiftly to complete the project within just 72 hours. The cleanup resulted in the removal of 25 individuals, the confiscation of five RVs, and the disposal of more than 60,000 tons of dangerous materials from the site. Additionally, the operation led to 10 arrests, highlighting the severity of the situation.

“We understand the complexity of addressing issues like homelessness and drug addiction in California,” said David A. Herrera, President of CAM Property Services. “These encampments often pose significant dangers to both the individuals living in them and the surrounding community. At CAM, we strive to provide effective solutions that not only prioritize public health and safety but also respect the dignity of individuals experiencing homelessness.”

The completion of this operation reflects CAM’s commitment to responding quickly and effectively to environmental hazards, even in the most challenging circumstances. The company’s expertise in cleanup and remediation is backed by years of experience, and they have become a trusted partner for municipalities, property owners, and organizations facing complex environmental issues.

This cleanup is also aligned with California’s broader efforts to tackle homelessness. In October 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom expanded the state’s efforts by awarding $130.7 million to local governments to clear homeless encampments, while also providing shelter, care, and support services. However, the Governor also announced strict accountability measures, requiring that those who receive funding adhere to state housing and homeless laws.

For municipalities, property owners, or organizations seeking assistance with emergency cleanup or property maintenance, CAM Property Services offers a broad range of services. These include junk hauling, janitorial services, pressure washing, landscaping, ADA remediation, and more. Their professional and compassionate approach ensures that communities are kept safe while supporting individuals in need of help.
